Summary of the first day
NEW YORK, NY (May 12, 2022) –
For a second straight season, the Lehman College Men’s Track and Field Team is the CUNYAC/USS Outdoor Track and Field Champions! Action resumed at Icahn Stadium on Thursday morning with on-field events after competition was halted last weekend due to inclement weather.
Lehman finished atop the standings with 202 points, followed by CCNY with 180 points. The Lightning’s win ended a nine-game conference title streak for the Beavers. It’s Lehman’s fourth conference title in program history and the first time they’ve won the league championship since 2009.
Lehman’s Kuron Williams picked up two more gold medals in the afternoon. The eldest won first place in the hammer with a throw of 33.15m and went on to win gold in the discus with a throw of 33.34m. During the two-day encounter, Williams racked up a game-high 53 points. For his efforts, he was named the competition’s Most Valuable Performer.
Habibu Gado put on another great performance by winning gold in the high jump with a leap of 1.73m. He finished the weekend with a total of 51 individual points.
of york Hakeem Griffiths won gold in the triple jump, recording a solid leap of 13.16m. Lehman took two of the top three spots, while Obinna Njoku II (12.15m) and Keyshawn Peterson (11.88m) finished second and third respectively.
Lehman’s Kennedy Ebéziem won gold in the discus with a throw of 32.81m, while teammate Kenneth Davis won silver in hammer and bronze in discus (29.73m).
