Former Tennessee Titans quarterback and current NBC Sports analyst Chris Simms has released his annual quarterback rankings ahead of the 2022 campaign.
In his ranking, Simms has Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill ranked 15th in the NFLa spot behind Indianapolis Colts flagman Matt Ryan.
While the merits of putting Ryan ahead of Tannehill can certainly be debated, it’s not a terrible ranking for the Titans signalman after having a disappointing, turnover-filled 2021 campaign.
Coming off of his struggles that were capped off with a three-steal performance in the season-ending loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in the playoffs, Tannehill is squarely in the hot seat in 2022.
Not only did the Titans reportedly consider replacing Tannehill with another marquee quarterback, but they also drafted Liberty signalman Malik Willis in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
If Willis can develop and prepare for 2023, this could very well be Tannehill’s last season in Nashville. The veteran has one year left on his current contract past 2022, but the Titans can walk away with a $9.6 million charge and $27 million in savings if he’s cut after June 1.
For now, Tannehill is poised to lead the Titans again in 2022, and he’ll be looking to prove he can get Tennessee over the hump, something he couldn’t do in the past. course of the past three years.
